Operations resume five days after Hurricane Maria
Following the passage of Hurricane Maria on September 20, 2017, Peter Paul Electronics Co., Inc., located in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, was able to overcome the challenges that this devastating phenomenon left in its infrastructure and managed to resume its operations to 100% just five days after the event.
Michael Mangiafico II, CEO of Peter Paul Electronics reported that when he became aware of the factory conditions in Fajardo, he immediately began efforts to collect basic necessities for employees and their families, as well as construction materials to begin repairing a part of the roof of the building.
"We have a close relationship with American Airlines and that helped us significantly to send supplies to our employees in Fajardo. As soon as we arrived at our site we found the great surprise that many of our employees were from early ready to work. At that point we began repairing the roof and other affected areas of the building. On Monday, September 25, we were ready to operate at 100%, "said Mangiafico II, who runs the company from its headquarters in New Britain, Connecticut.
According to the businessman, the biggest challenges facing the company is the need for diesel and water to operate. However, Mangiafico II explained that although it has been difficult they have managed to get enough fuel to run until Thursday, October 4, 2017.
