On June 15th, Peter Paul Electronics Co., Inc. received the Small Business Administration award for "Small Business Exporter of the Year" at a Ceremony in New Haven, CT. Michael Mangiafico II, operations manager, accepted the award for the company and its president, Paul Mangiafico. Michael said he deeply appreciated his family's vision to grow the business with a worldwide network of sales channels.
For nearly 60 years, PeterPaul has manufactured coils and solenoid valves. It currently employs over 130 workers. The company is undergoing ISO certification and has a substantial number of other global certifications in international markets. Paul Mangiafico Sr. Peter Paul's founder, turned the business into one of the largest coil manufacturers in the United States and began solenoid valve manufacturing in the 50's. Paul Senior, who came from Sicily when he was 11, expanded into Europe against contrary advice. However, PeterPaul's short lead times and high quality helped to penetrate markets in both Europe and Asia. Under its current president, sales channels in Asia and Europe have grown substantially. Now, the company also sells into Central/South American and African markets and in more than 60 countries on every continent.
"We're undergoing continuous improvement." said Michael Mangiafico; "We're on year two of our lean transformation, which has been a phenomenal success." During his acceptance speech, he also thanked the SBA and Central Connecticut State University's Institute for Technology & Business Development for helping with this transformation.
